The Charmant Group has recently received the Excellent Product Award 2011 from the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers (JSME) for LineArt CHARMANT, a signature brand of the group.
The award was given based on the proved performance by the product in Japanese eyewear market, in addition to the fact that the company overcame technological challenges and realized revolutionary products, parts and production technologies. It was nominated through JSME’s HOKURIKU-SHINETSU branch after winning the regional prize in March 2011. Five most outstanding recommendations made by the eight branches of JSME throughout Japan were awarded and Charmant was the only one awarded for the consumer products field this year.
Winning products are scheduled to be showcased at National Museum of Nature and Science under “leading-edge science and technology.” (Tentative exhibition name at time of issue)
It was awarded for the following facts that the company:
- In order to obtain the ideal material for optical frames, successfully developed a new titanium material through a joint research with the Tohoku University Institute for Metallurgical Research.
- Established laser micro-welding, a revolutionary welding technique for eyewear production, by collaborating with the Joining & Welding Research Institute of Osaka University and the Fukui Prefecture Industrial Support Center.
- Integrated those achievements in the eyewear “LineArt CHARTMANT” and achieved a remarkable share in the premier segment of optical frames.
- Realized technological development and development in manufacturing.
